|
|
So I've decided to do an MA and I've decided to do it in Australia.
Why? Well because an MA in Tesol or Applied Linguistics will help me with job opportunities down the road and I'd also get the chance to live in Australia.
With that said, I would like to hear some other people's experiences who may also have completed or are completing an MA in Australia.
What is the best university to do it at? (USQ, Macquarie, U of Melbourne?)
Was it difficult finding part time work on the side?
What were your monthly expenses like?
What was the best city to live and study?
Is surfing hard to learn?
Now I've been to Australia before as a traveller so I'm not that unfamiliar with the place. I also really loved Sydney and Melbourne and am leaning to going to one of those cities.
But any advice or recomendations would be helpful.
Thanks in advance. |

Australia has low unemployment so work is easy to find.
Wages are high but expenses are huge. I prefer Sydney to Melbourne but Sydney costs more.
To keep your option open you may need to look at an MA with honours as I've heard to get a visa for some countries a coursework masters won't make the grade.
I suggest you google The Times education list to find a school as different schools excel in different areas.
USQ has a great reputation for distance learning, I'm not sure about Macquarie and I think Melbourne is the top rated school in the country but I'm not sure of the ranks for an MA in TESOL.
Finally I'm Aussie but I can't surf. |
