Does anyone else think if it makes sense to get two sets of documents Apostilled along with two copies of the FBI background check? I'm worried that my paperwork is taking too long and that I'd miss out on the EPIK jobs.

Has anyone ever sent one set of docs to EPIK and saved another set for a recruiter for a hagwon job?

That said, has anyone made more than two sets? do these docs get sent back? how does it work?

Excuse my ignorance. I'm new to these new doc rules.

only thing is, the cost of getting it all done

I was actually just debating whether to bump the February 2013 EPIK thread, or just start a new one for the fall intake. I'm (kind of) surprised there hasn't been more EPIK talk Shocked

You're not going to get any of your docs back if I understand correctly. And yes, I went ahead and requested a second copy of my background results just in case. I actually did this a few weeks after the FBI had already received my original request -- in case anyone is wondering, they just had me print up another credit card form and fax it in along with a cover page and quick explanation. I figure it's better safe than sorry, I'd rather spend the $18 up front than to have to play the waiting game all over again.

thanks for your input -
i'm getting stuff notarised tomorrow, so i'm going to double up everything, though i'd still like to know if anyone's done a triple - just in case (one for epik, one for recruiter with hagwon, one set for that out on a limb hagwon job)
the thing is, they all ask you for these documents, and what if they interview you and you don't get the job? or do you send it in when you know you have the job (aside from epik which seems to want you to have the docs in)

You send electronic copies first, then physical copies once you pass the interview.

You just gave me the biggest a-ha moment. Idea
The thing is, I'm in Italy so I have to have them sent to me.
So then I'll just have it sent back to me, and I'll scan them here.
thanks, MW-
Hope this works Smile

Yeah, as mentioned above, you usually don't need to send your documents until you actually got the job and are getting your visa. Schools do sometimes back out, but it's uncommon.

do we need a separate copy of diploma apostilled specifically for immigration?
confused :(
about to send these off but having a last minute freak out

ETA: whatever. I'm just getting one copy done. Thanks for all your help-
and to the original poster:

I read here http://marshalljonesjr.com/apostilled-fbi-background-check-for-teaching-esl-in-korea/ that you can print out FBI form yourself and do your own prints. Maybe you can explain this to the police department and they'll just help you get them done right. As for the rest of the docs, try to get them notarised (I'm goint to try getting them done at the town hall because everyone is telling me that a notary here costs lots of money and someone in city hall authorises docs for 15 cents a piece. (That would be if you have your diplomas on you as I do). Otherwise try to get someone back at home to do everything for you.

The best advice I got from the above site is to tell the person helping you back home to pick up priority mail flat rate envelopes. This info helped me greatly. It's also easier for the person on the other side who is helping you - good luck -

I got four or five copies of everything (FBI background check, apostilled copy of diploma, etc), just in case. Once you send them in to EPIK you will never get them back, so I wanted to have extra copies so I could apply to let's say Incheon or to hagwon jobs, or in case the copy I sent to EPIK was lost by FedEx. It doesn't cost THAT much to get a few extra copies, but if you ended up with zero then it's a big hassle to get another, especially the FBI check.

I am also in the process of getting all my documents together. I always opt on the safe side and get duplicates of EVERYTHING.

But my question is this... you can send ELECTRONIC copies to the recruiter?!
