I have a recruiter trying to tell me that this suburb is 30 minutes outside of Seoul. I'm not really sold on that. I'm definitely more of a breathe in car fumes, walk amongst the skyscrapers type of urbanite. Will an area like Bundang be sufficiently close to city life for me?
P.S. I plan on getting a scooter/motorcycle at some point if that changes anything. |

Most of Seoul has less in the way of skyscrapers than Bundang does. All you really miss out on living in Bundang is having clubbing districts close at hand, and even then, Bundang doesn't lack for places to party and a cab home at the end of the night should only run you thirty thousand or so from Hongdae, and that's likely the farthest you would go for nightlife. Ultimately, Korea's suburbs are not suburbs in the way suburbs back home are, thus why the term satellite city is more often used. Bundang itself is in a city of nearly a million people, and with the new subway line is more like twenty minutes from Gangnam, per my understanding (and depending on where you live). Bottom line: you might end up in a much less busy, urban area in Seoul than you will find in Bundang, with less in the way of restaurants, bars, and cultural attractions. |

Bundang is closer to a lot of the foreigner hangouts than living in some districts IN SEOUL. (30 minutes to Itaewan, Gangnam or Jongno by bus on the expressway).
It is actually a pretty decent place to be (I have lived in Seohyun-1 dong since 2005) with ALL the conveniences you could ask for. As for tall buildings... my apartment is on the 24th floor overlooking the Tancheon park ....

Cool-- that's a relief. I just don't want them putting me in no man's land. |

15 minutes on the subway you are downtown Gangnam st. among all the flashing neon lights and skyscrapers, then you can come home to the best city in Korea with all the open space, parks, and department stores.
Bundang!
don't worry, Bundang is awesome. |

There isn't really anywhere within an hour of Seoul that you could classify as no man's land, as it's easily one of the most densely populated places in the world. |

I'm jealous! I tried to get another job in Bundang, but couldn't find one, so I will be going to Gangnam. Do you know which part of Bundang you will be going to? |

Bundang's (Jeongja Station) 16 minutes away from Gangnam station which certainly has the car fumes, cigarette smoke and the skyscrapers you want. |

Anyone know what are the best places to live in Bundang?
Specifically, close to what subway stop should I be looking for an officetell/villa?
Main requirements are that it is close to the subway, close to a going to Sinsa bus, close to a basketball court, and very ideally but not likely, close to a library.
Anyone know any good real estate agents in Bundang? Was planning to just check out the different stops and walk around aimlessly. Trying to find something for at/under 10 million key, and 750 rent. |

if you're looking for an apartment/officetel, just hit up naver or daum to get a sense of prices:

if it's a villa, you'll have to check out some realtors.
10/750 should go pretty far in bundang. just be sure to find out the maintenance fee as well. it can be a lot, particularly in officetels.

although bundang is known as a rich suburb, it's still cheaper than a lot of the more ghetto areas of seoul. |
