During the chilly winter after a spirited night of drinking, I decided to sleep it off in a seedy motel. Anyway, I woke up the next morning drenched in sweat (the electric heating pad) and sprawled on my back. I don't think I moved the entire night. A day after that I developed a nasty (big and nasty) pimple in the middle of my back. So, I took a hot shower and dispatched the festering pustule as best I was able.

The other day I was in the shower and was scrubbing that same spot and realized the skin was discolored and scaly there... still... or it just happened to be haunting me suddenly. I don't know. I definitely don't want to see a dermatologist here. I was thinking about smearing some sort of antibiotic lotion on it... like Neosporin. Do they have it here, is there a local equivalent? Any other DIY solutions/suggestion?

Sounds like a staph infection. You can get triple antibiotic cream at the pharmacy. The brand I have is called 바스포.

Staph infections are common but can sometimes be serious so if it starts getting bigger see a doctor. Google MRSA if you want something to motivate you.

Go to a university hospital and see a dermatologist. They are actually pretty good.

See a dermotologist or go to Namdaemun market to the basement of the orange BYC building. There's lots of American products there. I bought Neosporin there before. But dermotologists here are good too.
