sorry, probably a bunch of posts on this, but didn't see a sticky.
Are you supposed to go to the embassy or consulate in Seoul? funky hours? need an appt in advance? cash or special voucher or credit card? waiting time?
basically, anyone ever go and if so, general comments on the whole tourist visa process. trying to get an idea of how long it will be, what docs i need to bring, etc.
thanks! |

Go to a travel agent.
You CANNOT do it yourself.
Plan on about $140 (visa fee for US citizens) plus couriers and agents fees ($200 all in for basic service).
You need your ARC (6 months validity remaining at the time of your visa application).
passport
application
passport photo
fee.
Basic service is 4 days PLUS 2 more days for couriers.
Expedited service is 2 days plus 2. (add $20)
Rush service is next day plus 2. (add $30 more)

The fees are much higher for Americans and are in my opinion an outrage. Just say no to China. That's what I do. |

Reciprocity -
Chinese nationals have higher (visa and related) costs and more hoops to jump through for a visa when they want to go to the States than other nationals do.
China simply returns the favor to US citizens wanting to go to China.

Could you please recommend a travel agency that you've used? |

For a visa? Any of them can do it - even the chains like Hana Tour or Top Travel. Be aware that many may add a 20 buck service charge to the visa fee if you're not booking a flight with them. |
