If this was a foreign teacher doing this the Korean media would have treated him exactly the same.
Right? |

I think it's in poor taste that 'running man' the long running Korean sunday night program will be doing a parody of this in their show this week.
Or will they? |

Disgusting behaviour. However swampie what you are doing is not better than what some Korean media is doing when they single out one foreigner-related incident....just sayin....
At any rate, the guy was fired and will likely face very dire social consequences as will his family. He has nowhere to go and will never outlive this. He did something horribly wrong and disgusting. |

Where does it say the guy was fired?
I must have missed that part.
My guess is he'll get his wrist slapped
and back to school on Monday. |

Just sayin what, exactly? So we should all just stick our heads in the sand and ignore that a pedophile is teaching in Korean schools? I have a daughter about to enter the school system here, and if the gov't poopoo's something like this and makes excuses for the guy, it hardly instills confidence in the belief that my girl will be safe from pervert male teachers.
You do know that apologists like you are why this site has its lowest viewership in years, right?
Somehow, I doubt you would have cared if this had been a foreigner. |

@warmachine: it is what it is mate!
we see people come and go on here and no one knows why.
Yes, there are some extreme double standards in the land of morning
confusion. |

Your guess is wrong. It states it quite clearly in the article.

After confirming that Mr. A beat one of his students, the Seoul Department of Education immediately removed him from his position and began disciplinary action |

On April 17th, the Yangcheon Police Department announced that part-time teacher Mr. A, age 55, had been released temporarily while he is being charged with causing bodily harm and public exposure |

Only he's not. He's been removed from his position...not suspended... not on leave but removed.
He is also facing police charges AND SMOE disciplinary charges.
That is hardly poopooing anything
Also saying that somebody did something horrible and disgusting is hardly advocating sticking one's head in the sand. |

The guy sounds like he had a serious mental breakdown. I hope he gets some help. Because of his age and substitute teacher status, he probably won't teach again, although there have been cases in the past of dodgy teachers simply being relocated. |

In fairness, they should hold mass candlelight vigils and burn the flag of the country this pervert is from, along with demanding an apology of the President of his country. |

The best parts of those articles are the translated Korean texts at the bottom. |

what was the point of posting the link and then saying what you said about how foreigners are portrayed?
Seriously, the guy is a sick pervert and did something wrong.
As for site viewership I highly doubt "apologist" are the reason swamp. the reason is a lot simpler than that: diversity in online offerings for people looking for information about teaching in Korea. In the past few years online resources have exploded as far as sites offering information for prospective teachers. This sites software and look are also out of date. That my friend is what drives viewership. If something could potentially have driven away people, it would have been the numerous hate filled, racist laced threads that pop up on here routinely. It could also be the trolls who spue incorrect information about job conditions or life in Korea....heck that would have driven away more people that "apologists".
Back to the topic, where did I say we should stick our heads in the sand about things like what that sick teacher did? Why not discuss it on its own without the stupid reference to " oh and then Koreans complain and worry about Foreign teachers". You know full well swampie (you have been in korea long enough) that this K-teacher will be ruined now and that his family will suffer greatly because of his sick actions. He deserves the consequences. No debate or discussion there.
He is however ONE person and does not represent KOREANS anymore than that sicko Christopher Paul Neil represented foreign teachers in Korea.
As for your last sentence, I would have cared just as much if a foreigner had committed such a horrible and disgusting act. The act is horrible, no matter who commits it swampie.

He will not keep his job. Criminal procedures have been started against him. His life will likely be ruined and that is all his fault. the school itself will suffer and there is no way they could consider keeping him on staff. suspending this guy is the first response. It will not stop there. |
