I've only been to VIPS a few times. It's not bad, but not great.

Was wondering if anyone has been to Todai or Bono Bono? Reviews? Any other places? We don't want to drop 80K a head for a hotel buffet.

Ashley's buffet is very good for the price and has many locations, including in many New Core outlets and some of the larger Homeplus stores. The Ashley's buffet in the New Core store next to Gangnam's Express Bus Terminal is the only one in Seoul to include BBQ ribs and chicken, along with everything else, for under 20,000 won.

I agree. IMO, hotel buffets are overrated.

Todai is barely ok.
Bono Bono is decent, especially for lunch.
Makino Chiya (Gangnam) is the best overall, IMO.

The VIPS near Sungshin Womens' Univ is great at the moment, as it has an English food table. There is also an Ashley in the building where CGV is, right next to Sungshin Womens' Univ. Station. That one has wines on the dinner menu.

I think all VIPS offer the same menu.

It's either Todai or Bono Bono for dinner. I'd like to try that Makina place but won't have time to get to gangnam.

I've tried ashleys, each time I felt queasy afterwards. Didn't help it was in a basement and there were flies flying around.

I know you're looking for more reasonably priced buffets, but if for some reason you decide on a more expensive buffet, I'd recommend Lotte Hotel. Even though expensive, it's one of the few experiences in Korea where I can honestly say I got my money's worth and more.

As many lobster tails as you can eat, freshly made sushi, excellent salads, steak, lamb chops, more than a few foreign dishes, great desserts and real ice cream. I always end up feeling like the guy in the Monty Python skit who eats too much.

The Foreign Restaurant off of Itaewon is pretty decent for Indian food. I don't remember how much it is, but I think it's relatively inexpensive.

greenworld hotel buffet by gangseogu office is the best buffet ive ever been to

smoked salmon, sushi rolls, sushi, breaded shrimp, raw beef, shellfish, much more all in a beautiful wedding hall environment with classical music playing. 15k/person. open most nights and weekends. get there at 12 or 6pm.

you can find it by searching google maps for 그린월드호텔 around gangseougu. or just tell a taxi driver

That does sound good, 90K a head though. That's like 45 rolls of kimbap!

Err to each their own but I wasn't satisfied. Would rather do a la carte elsewhere.

I do like the Marakech Nights buffet in Itaewon. No it doesn't do curries and things and tends to favor soupy things, but I find it tasty.

D'Maris is the only buffet I've been to that I still recommend. Although I recently went to an all you can eat sushi place in Jeongja that had nice salmon.

Todai and VIPS are both mediocre. Ashley's is the worst I have been. Although my wife's friend informed me last week that there are different grades of Ashley's. "W" is the best grade I believe. I think I will stick to D'Maris though as my once every few months spurge.

I have been to another a long time ago, I believe named Seven Springs, that was decent. However that was a long time ago and I don't know if it is still in Korea.

Seven Springs is still in Korea. I went to one in Seoul last week. It was roughly 25k per person on a Sunday afternoon. Check out their website for more info, although i'd prefer VIPS to be honest.

The Foreign Food Restaurant's buffet in Itaewon is 16,500 per person on a Sunday afternoon.
