A small chain of hogwons want me to rotate once a month to have a fun day or more accurately fun 2-3 hours at their hogwon.
Its in a room and the kids range from several to about 15 or 16 depending on the hogwon.
They want to have fun. They don't care about teaching. They don't care about the kids learning English. Just make sure they have fun. They rotate the kids in every 30 minutes or so a new set of kids for a couple hours ages range from 8 to about 12 or 13.
I've done a few classes but am running out of things to keep them entertained. The activity area of this site isn't 'fun' enough and its education centered and the owners aren't seeing this as an education opportunity but purely as fun.
Most have done twister, bingo, the basic games, etc. at some point. I am buying Pictionary at some point I think. The kids prefer some sort of physical activity at some point in the 'class'. They usually want 2-4 different activities while they are in the room. Each lasting about 10 to 15 inutes in duration. The room size varies. Looking for something new.
I have done a giant word search on a huge 1 square meter paper, have a dart board that uses a felt ball as the dart. I did a game I saw on 'The Office' once which is paper airplane darts where they try and get it into a circle that I made. They loved that. I have a prize for some of the games.
Any ideas? |

Have them sit in a big circle with one person in the middle. That person has to say one true thing about themselves, like "I am wearing glasses" or "I am a boy" or "I live in XX."
If its also true with those in the circle, they have to change seats as quickly as possible, with the one in the middle trying to get a seat as well. Odd one out stands in the middle. Repeat.
Fun, really active, and they usually like it till they run out of things to say. "I like Kimchi" and suddenly no one else likes kimchi. |
