|
|
My phone got wiped and after software re-install I lost my favorite keyboard. I like the old style keyboard where it takes only 12 keys (good for my fat fingers) and the "dot" key has it's own key. This is the keyboard style back before touch screens when there was just the number keys (and #*). I really like that it takes only 12 keys and I could really fly with that keyboard.
Every Korean keyboard I load now is either a full keyboard, or some modified version of the old keyboard where the vowels are already spelled out individually. If anyone has the old keyboard where the "dot" has its own key please let me know.
Thanks,
Drew |

I'm using a Chinese android phone (since I live in China) and an American android tablet computer I bought from the US. On both devices, I use OnHangul for typing in Korean. It's free and very easy to use. The keyboard is a 3x4 array, with the bottom left key the space bar and the bottom right key the question mark; the other ten keys are used to type the Hangeul letters. One key is the dot key and one key is the tilde key used for consonants.
Here is the explanation from that site on how to do that:
Quote: |
■ Hangul input method ■
~ button can transform basic consonants as follows:
ㅋ = ㄱ + ~
ㄷ = ㄴ + ~
ㅌ = ㄴ + ~ + ~
ㅈ = ㅅ + ~
ㅊ = ㅅ + ~ + ~
ㅂ = ㅁ + ~
ㅍ = ㅁ + ~ + ~
ㅎ = ㅇ + ~
You can make double consonants as follows:
ㄲ = ㄱ + ㄱ
ㄸ = ㄴ + ~ +ㄴ + ~
ㅆ = ㅅ + ㅅ
ㅉ = ㅅ + ~ + ㅅ + ~
ㅃ = ㅁ + ~ + ㅁ + ~
according to the principle of
Heaven(), earth(ㅡ), human(ㅣ)
ㅏ = ㅣ +
ㅑ = ㅣ +  +
ㅓ =  + ㅣ
ㅕ =  +  + ㅣ
ㅗ =  + ㅡ
ㅛ =  +  + ㅡ
ㅜ = ㅡ +
ㅠ = ㅡ +  +
ㅟ = ㅡ +  + ㅣ
ㅝ = ㅡ +  +  + ㅣ
ㅚ =  + ㅡ + ㅣ
ㅘ =  + ㅡ + ㅣ +
ㅞ = ㅡ +  +  + ㅣ + ㅣ
ㅙ =  + ㅡ + ㅣ +  + ㅣ |
A Korean friend using the same tablet computer has this app and likes it. |

Thanks, yes that is the same say that my old keyboard input the vowels, I really like that system. This keyboard makes the consonants in a different way than the old one, but it seems easy enough. I will give it a good try and see.
Thanks so much. I really like that it takes only 12 keys so I don't have to try and hit tiny keys with my big fingers. |

Just go to Korean keyboard settings and change it from qwerty to 3x4. I think this is what you mean right?

I get a dead link "HTTP 413 Forbidden" when I try to follow that link.
I have 4 different Korean Keyboards installed now:
- sky keyboard (came with phone)
- google korean keyboard
- OnHangulK
- 한글 접축식 키보드
none of them have the 12 key hangeul keyboard in their options.
Can you tell me which Korean keyboard you are using where you have this option in the settings? I am thinking it might be the keyboard that came with your phone that didn't come with mine (my phone is sky), but maybe I can download it anyway. What is the name of that Korean keyboard you have please? Hopefully I can find it on playstore.
Thanks |
