So, I'm obviously going to be doing a visa run. Airfare is paid already, but the school didn't get a package deal, so I'll be on my own to find a hotel. Any recommendations? Near the embassy would be great, but not necessary.
Thanks in advance! |

Did you look through the sticky ( http://forums.eslcafe.com/korea/viewtopic.php?t=21767 ) for Fukoka visa runs?

My hagwon treated me very well on my visa run. My boss booked me to stay at the Canal City Fukuoka Washington Hotel, and it was the perfect location. There are a lot of nice restaurants and shops at Canal City. I ate the pizza buffet at Sharkey's Pizza at Canal City, and it was superb with so many different types of pizza that I had never previously experienced, including crazy dessert pizzas, along with a salad bar, free refills of soda, and an upscale cappucino machine. It was reasonably priced, especially considering the prices in Japan. There were Japanese restaurants and many, many other types of restaurants in Canal City, and upscale restaurants in the Grand Hyatt also located there. It's about halfway between the Korean consulate and the airport.
There's a Hard Rock Cafe located near the consulate if you're into that. I'm not, but I had to grab a couple of pins there for my father, who collects pins. The Fukuoka Hard Rock Cafe's pin collection was impressive in its quality, quantity, and variety.
Have fun. |

Last year I took a trip around Japan and often stayed in a Toyoko Inn. It is a chain of no-frills business hotels, usually located near the Japan Railways (JR) stations. The above information specific to Fukuoka Visa Runs is probably better information, but if you or someone wants something different, Toyoko Inns are good in Fukuoka and most every other city. |

Check out that thread ttompatz mentioned as well, but I personally stay at Hotel Etwas in Oyafuko. Doesn't break the bank, near Tenjin and the embassy is walkable from there. |

Thanks for all the info! I didn't think to check the travel forum (for some reason), and I got a lot of good info from that thread. Between that and asking some others around here I think I'll go to the Heiwadai at Tojinmachi. Thanks again! |

You walk from Tenjin to the Korean Embassy? That's quite far. How long does it take you? |
