Honestly, does my bank machine really need to blather on so much?

I've used an ATM machine about a thousand times over the years. I know how to do it. Do I really need some ajumma's loud recorded voice narrarating my every step during a transaction? It's so symptomatic of Korea in that a) nothing can be done without excessive talking at loud volumes b) nothing can be done without noise. Christ even my bloody washing machine gives me hell if I don't take out my laundry immediately. And my microwave oven always sounds like its pissed off at me. And the noise the friggin buzzer makes on my bus. Sounds like a regular buzzer is being tortured.

But it's the yappy ATM machines that get on my last nerve. I actually told one to "Shut the #$% up" yesterday.Laughing Do I really need a loud ajumma micro-managing my every step at the bank?

So my question is this. Does anyone know which banks have the least yappy ATM's.

I find pressing the English button usually rectifies the situation. Some of the (few) translations are pretty funny too. It's also kind of relaxing how over half of the menu options disappear once you're in English mode too.

Ah ha, but that also shows Koreans are being offered more. Discrimination? Which bank is it?

Yeah. Choice is yours. But I don't think it is really necessary to scream in their face, it's rather uncouth.

In my opinion, the Mods are far too tolerant of Dodge7. Every chance he gets he's pushing religion here despite religious topics being expressly forbidden on this forum. He just never lets up.

Now he's pushing his religion in large colored font. Shocked

Well don't use my God's name as a swear word, it's a very personal subject for me. That's all I ask. I gaurantee you it's ten times more offensive to me than whatever you think it is I get away with. I just re worded the offensive words the OP made and made it positive. I didnt write anything or add anything to it.

And if you think the mods are lenient, maybe they are--but I don't cuss or swear which many of you do which is also against the rules.

Hahaha, this brings back memories. EVERYTHING in Korea and Japan talks too much. Escalators, elevators, appliances, vending machines, wordy subway stop announcements and polite reminders about how to wait by the doors, the list goes on and on. There were moments when it drove me a bit bonkers.

The warning that repeats in several languages on the moving sidewalks at Incheon airport make me laugh.

The KEB bank machines are noisy, but I only use them once a month, so no big deal. I think it is done for the blind. I notice so much braille and things for the blind here.

Dodge - was it you I saw in Itaewon last weekend 'speaking in tounges?'

Either that's or it was an ESL teacher who'd had one too many! Very Happy

Yeah, screw those blind people. They're making my life inconvenient. Shame on Korea for offering them constant voice services.
