I'm in the process of getting paperwork together for RBI recruiting. Has anyone had experience with them? I'd love to know what it was like.
My last time in Korea I went directly through a school, and have not had experience with a recruiter.
My FBI application is in the mail, so as soon as I get that back everything else will be in order, and I'm assuming a July departure date? |

I went to them 2 times and was disappointed both times.
Maybe they have improved over the years, but don't expect too much.
They "offered" me some of the worst jobs I could find and I could have
found them on my own by scrolling through the jobs section on this site.
When I told them I wanted something better, they never contacted me again.
They were a big waste of time for me. |

Thank you so much for that. I spoke with someone the other day, and am now just waiting for my FBI check to come back.
I'm assuming then that looking on here would be most helpful?
I've also had some contact with EPIK, but not much. |

I applied through them because I was told they were a recruiting agency that deals specifically with Busan jobs. I had to send them 3 emails and still never heard back from them. |

The other thing, don't be in a rush.
That's when mistakes happen.
When I first went to Korea,
it took me 6 months or more of searching through job offers before I found
something I was comfortable with.
If you can find something right away, go for it. But do your research.
Find out as much as possible about the place before
you agree to anything.
There used to be a good little recruiting company called M&J that recruited for areas around Busan. I don't know if they still are in
operation though. I haven't seen any ads of theirs for a while. |

I was most interested in RBI Recruiting after having heard such good things about them, but they were the one company I had never heard back from. So I came on here and posted about my experience with recruiters in a reputable recruiters thread and mentioned how I had never heard back from them. Within 24 hours of that, RBI emailed me a job offer that was a split shift/low pay in comparison to other jobs jobs I have been sent. So I kind of discounted them after that. Plenty of recruiters out there, it's okay if one of them doesn't want to work with me.
I really, really recommend Dexter at Star Teachers, though he mostly sent me jobs in the Seoul area, not Busan. I'm pretty sure his company has access to jobs in Busan though, so PM me if you'd like his information.
Though Dexter worked really hard for me, ACE Recruiting found me the job I ultimately decided to take. Both ACE Recruiting and People Recruit sent me a bevy of jobs for the Busan area. So I would recommend those both to you as well. Just make sure to do your homework because some less than great hagwons were sent my way from People Recruit (I.e ones on the hagwon black list...)
P.S I'm from Ohio too!! and I'm headed to the Busan area. We should have lunch sometime! |

word of caution..
recruiters really almost ALWAYS coat information they give you with white lies.
Well, u won't hear anything negative at all from them but they will actually lie about location and hours.
So, u need to check with another foreign teacher at the job for the correct information. |

Thanks for the heads up WaterGirl! I appreciate it!
Last time I was in Korea I went directly through a school, and dealt with ZERO recruiters. On the bright side, since it's my second time I think I have a good idea of what is bull and what isn't, but the process is still a little draining, and trying to sort through the junk emails from the ones that are worthwhile is not fun either.
If anyone has any other links to recruiters or jobs in Busan, I'd love the helping hand! |

I know the people at RBI and they are great to work with. They got me and my friends some good jobs in Busan over the years. Just go out any night in town and ask around and you will see that more people were placed by RBI in Busan than any other recruiter. And almost everyone has had a good experience with them. As for the quality of jobs you are going to get, that all depends on how good of an applicant you are. Busan is really competitive as everyone wants to teach here so what do you expect. If you are getting shitty job offers from them then maybe you're not what schools are looking for? |

Or maybe the recruiters aren't all that? I've seen a lot of complaints about RBI on this board today. Putting a teacher with a bad school is inexcusable and potential teachers need to know if a recruiter does this with any frequency not attributable to an accident. |

So if RBI gives me crappy job offers it must be my fault.
But if other recruiters in the area get me better offers then what?
At least other recruiters put in some effort.
RBI just "put my name on file" and I never heard from them again. |
