ive lived in various places over the years. One thing ive consistantly noticed, is that my washing machines seem to always play ' im a lumberjack'.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=5zey8567bcg
Ive also noticed that the school by my house has a tannoy system that plays the childrens nursery rhyme 'im a little tea pot'.
There are others, but i cant remember.
Gay theme? or just a coincidence?
odd... |

I've never thought Monty Python was funny at all. If my washing machine played that stupid excuse for British comedy tune every time it finished washing my clothes, I'd destroy it. Mine plays some beeping song that could be that, but I certainly can't tell from that incredibly unfunny video. |

wow! some very strong feelings about that? you arent just ambiguous, you really hate them?
well, id say in their defence, maybe the comedy hasnt aged too well, but at the time they were pushing the boundries which has inspired a lot of great comedy today ( the league of gentlemen, reeves and mortimer, ricky gervais). They also inspired cheech and chong, the simpsons, flight of the conchords the daily show, austin powers and south park (and probably family guy).
And remember, one of the writers was also a writer for 'that stupid excuse for american comedy' saturday night live.
I hope you hear that song in your head now, every time your socks are finished spinning.

It's already out of my head, but whatever song my washing machine plays is still annoying and lasts too long (around 20 seconds, I'd say). Maybe I was bit harsh, I do appreciate a lot of British comedy, like Gervais -Extras is great-, but it's still second tier stuff. I also disagree with some of your inspirational references but there's no way of approving or disproving any of that. I don't know what SNL writer you're referring to but that show goes in huge spurts, not sure when the person you're referring to was writing skits.
I've tried watching Monty Python stuff a few times, beginning when I was in high school. I think your point about it not aging well is the key because I always thought it was almost entirely unfunny. |

I have to agree that this guy's dislike for Monty Python is over the top. I for one find the various chimes in Korea charming. I wish the signal to wake up on the subway still sounded like songbirds... |

They've changed since, but both of my schools were playing Fur Elise for class change when I first came (back) to Korea to teach public school. As far as I knew, every school played Fur Elise for some inexplicable reason. |

Home on the Range is a fairly common class change tune.
I had a doorbell that played London Bridge is Falling Down. |

And it goes on forever...a single tone would be enough. |
