http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/usa/10064820/Toronto-mayor-Rob-Ford-caught-smoking-crack-on-video.html

Quote:
Toronto Star reporters were contacted by a man who described himself as an organiser in the Somali community. He claimed to represent two other Somali men who had allegedly supplied crack cocaine to the mayor, and sought to facilitate the sale of the video.

The video, which has not yet been purchased, has been viewed by journalists with the Toronto Star and the news website Gawker. The owners of the video are reported to have hoped to sell it for as much as $1 million.

Journalists claim the video shows a man, who resembles Mr Ford, smoking crack cocaine. The video reportedly shows Mr Ford conducting a rambling conversation in which he calls Liberal leader Justin Trudeau a homosexual.

Mr Ford denied the allegations, calling them "absolutely not true... ridiculous."

That's because it IS him. But that picture is not from the video in question, which has not been released to the general public. It's a photo of Ford partying with two guys, one of whom was later murdered.

Could the "hockey analyst" be...Don?

I don't know anything about Ford. It will be a media blowout if this is true.

I'm not gonna say who it could be, but I think most people who see that description have all been thinking about one particular guy.

And, for what it's worth, Don(of whose recreational habits I know nothing) spoke at Ford's inaguration.

Slate has a good round-up of his best You Tube videos. But to really understand the cultural dynamics at play here, imagine that Rush Limbaugh gets elected mayor of San Francisco.

Give him a break compared to the mayor of Osaka he is hardly hurting anyone but himself.
Also, if I was still living in that city I would probably have considered using the pipe at one point.
At least he isn't sexually harassing aids.

Marion Barry got filmed smoking crack, went to jail, then got reelected mayor of Washington, DC after he got out. A true story of the American dream.

Seems like we might not see the video after all -
The video owner disappeared - did anyone think that Ford would wait for the video to come out without taking some sort of action? (bribe/police/gangsters/etc)

Besides, given the impact this video would have on the reputation of the city of Toronto (Canada even?), I'm thinking that Ford is not the only one interested in making this disappear.

Now that the video is unlikely to come out (again, either the owners have been paid off or made to 'disappear') - Ford has decided to officially deny the allegations.

This is happening one week after the allegations have been made - throughout the whole time, Ford kept quiet - didn't want to do anything with the media.

The end result? Ford will likely remain in power - the truth will never come out due to lack of hard evidence.

But his denial wasn't really a denial. He didn't say he has never used crack.
He said he wasn't using crack, which was a truthful statement if he wasn't high when he made it.

True enough - 'I do not use Cocaine' can mean any number of things.
I do think that as time passes - his statements will become bolder and more specific. Right now though, it's not just a matter of the video, but also the possibility of witnesses stepping forward (who were present doing the act) - so Ford has to be cautious in his statements.

Wow - Apparently the Ford brothers were selling drugs a while back.

If we learn that they were also pimping their mother - will they step down then? Somehow I doubt it. Toronto is the next Detroit - -

Hardly. Apparently the company their father started in the late '60s does 100 millions of business per year. If anything, they were rich kids rebelling against their wealthy parents.
