Does anyone know of a service for translating Korean websites into English? Google translate doesn't seem to work very well

Cheers.

Your two options for online, free machine translation for Korean -> English are pretty much Google translate, and Microsoft translator.

Ok thanks. I'll make do with what I have then. Google seems ok for taking individual bits of language but it's overall website translation service is pretty weak.

Korean -> English machine translation has made strides in recent years, but it still has a long way to go. On top of that, the method that Google translate uses gives better results for complete sentences than for isolated titles, headings, etc. such as what you find on a webpage. Plus, there's language embedded in images and flash that it won't even touch.

Given time, I'm sure that a person could translate the website for you, but you're probably looking for some specific piece of information rather than wanting the whole website translated, yes?

And let's not forget about how so many Korean sites are constructed. Basically, the text is one big picture file and that's not going to get translated by whatever translation site you decided to use.

well theres alot of tools out there for website translations. More than google to microsoft...

for example

http://www.popjisyo.com/WebHint/Portal_e.aspx

type the korean website you want to translate in the URL box up top. ( make sure you put in the HTTP:// in front of the url)

the website will bring you to the korean site and If you put the mouse over a korean word it will give you a definitiion of the word in a pop up. Very useful for learning korean.

An other way is to just download GOOGLE CHROME webbrowser. Go to the korea website you want translated and Right click anywhere in an empty space and click " translate to english" and google chrome wil translate the page to english as best it can. AS with all translations its not exactly 100% accurate hahah...

I thought about including POPjisyo in my post, but it's more of a language study tool than a translator, as it shows definitions of individual words rather than translating the whole text, so I left it out.

Yeah popjisyo is more for language study... I just put it there because its all direct "translation" you just need to put the cursor over the word...

IF you want to translate whole websites Your best bet is to download Google Chrome browser and Right click and clikc translate. That way it just switches all the text to whatever language chrome is set to. Better than copying and pasting into google translate... Not 100% accurate but decent.

I'm sure there are a bunch of add-ons / extentions to Firefox or google chrome aswell. Just look through the Firefox/ chrome extension store.

Thanks, it seems to be the language embedded in an image/flash that's messing everything up alright. I'll take a look at popjisyo and the chrome/Firefox add-on tricks. Finding it all pretty laborious going back and forth translating a word at a time.
