Okay, so I've had three video interviews so far, and twice I've had technical issues. In the first one, I used Skype and I got disconnected two times during the interview and couldn't see my interviewer until after we reconnected on the 3rd time (thought she could see me the whole time). The other time, the interviewer couldn't see me (agin on Skype), so she asked me to do FaceTime interview using my iPhone (it actually rung on my iPad, but oh well). The FaceTime feed was really choppy, and I could only make out about 2/3 of what she was saying.
So, are these kinds of issues typical? I suspect my ISP, which was recently bought out with promises of fixing the former company's "bandwitdth issues," but I've tested Skype with two other people that live in other cities (one 30 minutes away, but is on another ISP, the other is two timezones away), and I didn't have any issues. I also always reboot everything an hour prior to the interview just for extra assurance. Is there anything more I can do to make these kinds of problems less likely? |
