Back in 2009 I was considering doing the TESOL cert at Sookmyung thinking it would lead to a MA. I never got around to it, but was perusing the website today and it seems that the tuition cost of the cert is 2.4 mil. Seemed much lower than when I originally looked at the program in 2009 so I took a look at some old emails... I was quoted 3,750,000(5 months).

Has there been a change to the program? Is the certification still 5 months and credited towards the Masters program if one were to decided to go that route?

How does the job market look for those with a MA in Tesol these days. In terms of Uni jobs I mean.

Also, when it comes to Uni positions, does age play much of a factor? Possible/probable to hold one of those positions into your 60's?

Are there other schools offering the same program in Seoul? Recommendations?

I did the Sookmyung TESOL cert last year and it was 2.4 million won. It's MA level, so quite a bit of work, but worth it. I'm starting an MA program at a different uni this fall, and am waiting to hear back from the program coordinator to see if the uni will accept the Sookmyung credits, because it would shave a semester off of the MA. Fingers crossed!

I'm sorry that I can't answer your other questions, though.

Thanks for the reply.

Let us know how it goes with the new Uni and if they accept the Sookmyung credits.
I'm curious as to why you've chosen to do the MA at another Uni? Especially because you already know you will get credit for your cert at SM.
