So, I've seen several jobs sent to me from different recruiters where the office hours listed are at 10.5 hours (eg 9:00 am to 7:30 pm). What's the deal with that? Does that actually mean they're expecting me to work 10.5 hours every day?

no you wont physically work 10.5 hours a day you will have breaks and prep time. But that crazy. There are PLENTY of jobs listing 2-9 or something like that. Take those.

Typically that means a split shift: some morning classes, break, some afternoon and early evening work.

Could be something like 9-11 , break, 3-730.

Start time and finish time do not necessarily relate to working hours in a hagwon.

Usually jobs with those hours are kindy hagwons.

You work 9am-1 or 2pm. Take a break for a couple of hours then have 2-3 elementary classes between 3-7pm.

MOST of the time you are not required to remain in the hagwon when you are not teaching provided you are prepped for class and ready at class time.

You are also salaried and NOT an hourly worker so you can expect that they will take full advantage of your "120 hours" per month of class contact time (depending on the school that could mean as much as 1800 minutes standing in front of the class).

If you find an after-school hagwon (3-10pm) you will probably be there 6-7 hours per day and only teach 30 classes of 50 minutes per week.
