Okay, so apologies to any smart-asses who'll call this a dumb question.
I just got the location of my school today:
Hongsan-ro, Hongsan-Myeon, Boryeong city.
Does this mean I'll be in the city or on the outskirts?
Just a little confused as I read that -myeon is a town and
a -ro is a village.
Couldn't find the exact location on the google map. |

Hongsan-ro is Hongsan Street in Hongsan-Myeon. I just checked Korea Post's English site for looking up ZIP codes and Hongsan-Myeon isn't listed for Boryeon City. Are you sure you got the school address correct?
Oh, it should be mentioned that Korea's having issues with addresses over the last couple of years. The main issue is that people are supposed to follow the government's lead and use the new system which is a replacement of the system the Japanese colonial government instituted.
If you don't want to post the whole address of the school, send me a PM and I'll look it up for you and respond in kind with the type of locale. |

Technically to be on the outskirts there needs to be a city. Have you heard of a one horse town? I think this town shares a horse with the adjacent town.
홍산면사무소

Hey thanks Cali. The full address is:
111-7 Hongsan-ro, Hongsan-Myeon, Boryeong city,
Chungcheongnamdo, Korea 323-840
I've got a bad feeling it's way out in the sticks. |

T-J's info looks pretty accurate. Just use 홍산로 홍산면 as your search for maps.google.com. u definitely ain't in Bo-ryeong City from what i can tell. |

Wow, that's way out in the sticks! At least you can take your date to the Family Mart, or to church. |

OP if you're at Hongsan elementary go to Daum maps at the link and copy paste:
홍산초등학교
into the search. Road view is available to give you an idea of where you'll be.

I searched Daum's map site for 홍산로 111-7 (Hongsan-ro 11-7) and I get a grand total of one address in the nation for that. It's the Cheollabukdo Office of Education in Jeonju City. Someone's gotten something mixed up for you. What's the name of your school?
TJ's link is for accessing the map site on a mobile device. If you're using a regular ol' computer, simply delete the "m." at the beginning of the link. |

Nah, you're not in the sticks. You have to travel aways to get to the sticks. You're seriously in the boonies.
Anyway, the address in both English and Korean, in both old and news systems, for your school is as follows:
New System
Hongsan Elementary School
Hongsan-ro 111-7
Hongsan-Myeon
Buyeo-Gun
Chungcheonnam-Do 323-841
South Korea
323-841
충청남도
부여군
홍산면
홍산로111번길 7
홍산초등학교
Old System
Hongsan Elementary School
Bukchon-ri 148
Hongsan-Myeon
Buyeo-Gun
Chungcheonnam-Do 323-841
South Korea
323-841
충청남도
부여군
홍산면
북촌리 148
홍산초등학교
The phone number is +82-41-835-1091. Ask the person who answers, "Yeong-eo-seon-saeng-nim putakhamnita" and you'll get transferred in a flash to either the English teacher or the Korean teacher assigned to teach English (said Korean teacher may or may not actually be able to speak English).
By the way, "Gun" means "County" as in "You wish there was a city in view."
