Mandatory watching for a lot of people out there. Not a huge fan of BusanKevins vids but hell, sometimes, a piece of advice is just so so obvious. And he puts it nicely too, if that helps.
One thing I know for sure is if I ever feel the way he describes, I will do the only rational thing there is to do; finish my contract and then GTFO. I won't re-sign and then bitch about how terrible everything is on the internet. When I'm 'over' a country I'll just switch up, rinse and repeat. |

He did seem pretty struck down when his friends left a a few weeks ago.
Now that Japan is on the path to devalue its currency, I can see where he is coming from. This devaluation will last a year or more, and things are going to get tough for normal people (though great for corporations). |

I say leave when you cannot stand it anymore, BUT don't be surprised if you start missing Korea after a while.
You also might wanna leave before your job marketability back home seriously erodes to the point of no return. |

Don't leave until you have the cash to. Be prepared to continue doing ESL again somewhere else especially the way the economy is. The grass is always greener on the other side and you might want to come back to Korea. The problem is it's not necessarily that easy to do. Also there are other places to try ESL teaching like Hong Kong, Taiwan. It might be best to put in the years and gain the resources to switch to these locations. |
