I'm applying to the Chungcheongnam POE. The application asks if I've applied to teach at public schools in Korea before. Anyone know why they ask? |

Two reasons, if you have worked here before so they can check what kind of teacher you are and secondly to see if you maybe will teach in another province. |

So, if I applied to EPIK and was turned down, would that affect my application to Chungcheongnam POE? |

I don't think you need to say that you applied to EPIK. In fact that is probably a no no, since it might affect you getting hired by Chungcheongnam-do. What they want to know is if you have worked in a public school before. That they would find out about. EPIK doesn't handle Chungcheongnam-do schools. So Chungcheongnam is not going to know that you applied to EPIK. So don't worry about it.
By the way good choice of districts. It would have been better if you had not wasted your time applying to EPIK anyway. Chungcheongnam-do is a good district to work in. |

That's what I was trying to figure out. That puts my mind at ease, then. I didn't realize EPIK didn't handle Chungcheongnam Do hires. I thought it was odd that they were taking applications directly. The good thing about it is it gave me practice at interviewing, which I sorely needed. My knowledge and confidence just didn't really come through on my EPIK interview.
Thanks. |
