|
|
I'm aware of the older thread, but it's way outdated. I'm going to a hotel buffet tomorrow and was put in charge of choosing which one. Right now I'm debating between the Grand Ambassador (previously the Sofitel) and the Grand Hyatt - Namsan.
Any other suggestions (alongside prices)? Any input would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
I know there are some big eaters here. |

IMO, Makino Chaya (Gangnam), trumps them all. |

For quality of food, the Hyatt is best. About 80,000W if memory serves.
The Walker Hill one is good, similar price, but the food is better at the Hyatt.
The Intercontinental at Coex has their lobby bar wine (all you can drink) and some food from 6-9 (call to confirm and to reserve) for 35,000 as another poster said, but the food quality has slipped since it started and I wouldn't go if looking for a top notch meal.
Hyatt wins IMO. |

Looks like it's a strong vote for the Hyatt.
Eh... the COEX Intercontinental is pretty bleh. Thanks for the response though--if you like wine buffets, I'd highly recommend the one in Artnouveau City (Yoeksam Station exit 8 ). Stomps on the CEOX one in almost every respect--same price.
Also, thanks for the tip about Makino Chaya--although I'm looking for hotel buffets in this thread. I will definitely check that place out another time. Haha, I've been to way too many buffets--Bonobono, Seafood Ocean, Muscus, Todai, Marisco, etc. etc. :/
Also was considering Walker Hill but so thank for helping me rule that out in favor of the Hyatt.

I've been to the buffet in ALL of those hotels, and for 30,000 for lunch, this one trumps them.
Edit: Just saw your post on the "hotel" side of it - okie. |

Does the COEX buffet still happen on weekends? I've heard that they've cut it back to weekdays.
The news didnt shock me as I was pretty surprised my first time going seeing expats at the wine buffet with ragged t-shirts and shorts. |

La Seine at Lotte Hotel is quite good, but very pricey, of course. |

Could someone provide directions to this Makina place? Sounds awesome. Do they take reservations? |

Yes, directions please!
I've been to a lot of hotel buffets, and if price is no object, I recommend the W Hotel (near Achasan station). It's 90,000 won per person, but it was quiet (some hotel buffets get downright noisy), the view was incredible (even better than the Grand Hyatt), and the food was absolutely top-notch, even by five star hotel standards. Also, I like the decoration style, since I'm a hardcore modernist (regarding design, that is). |

It halfway between Gangnam station and Yoeksam station. I'll check later today for any landmarks and such. |

This place was one of the better buffets from what I remember a few years ago. It was quite pricey, as mentioned. |
