|
|
In my situation, my contract finishes at the end of June, but my visa expires July 27th. I am currently looking for a new job in my city.
Due to how long it takes to get a new apostilled background check, and due to my unfamiliarity with how to do so within Korea, I was hoping I could just transfer my visa to a new school. I believe I read somewhere this was possible, but I could not find many details that pertained to my specific case.
What are the time frames I have in terms of being able to transfer my visa? Do I need to have transferred my visa sponsorship to a new school before July 27th? I thought I heard as long as you weren't out of the country for more than three months you wouldn't need a new set of documents. Is there any truth to this?
I am hoping for a public school job that begins in September, but I am afraid that the timing will not work out. I was told I could apply for the job with copies from the local immigration office.
Also, when my visa expires, does that mean I have to leave the country that same day?
Lots of questions. Any help would be appreciated. |

IF your contract is finished then you can either change to a D10 (looking for work visa) or transfer to a new employer.
You need to do it before your ARC expires.
To switch to a D10:
passport
ARC
application
fee
job search plan
To transfer to a new employer:
passport
ARC
new contract
application
fee
copy of new employer business registration
new employer guarantee (sponsorship form).
In both cases it takes about 30 minutes at the counter at your local immigration office.
You need to:
a) leave,
b) extend your stay or
c) change your status before your ARC expires.
Your visa (the thing in your passport is NOT relevant).
