When I decided to come to Korea, I simly posted an ad here on Dave's with my resume. I got about 40 responses in the first 6 hours and about half of those were recruiters. I took a job directly and did not go through a recruiter.

I have always wondered about them though because they say that their services don't cost you a cent, and the wages they mentioned were similar (within 100,000 won higher OR lower!) of the hagwan's offers.

So, what is in it for the recruiter and how do they get paid? Surely they are not doing it because they get that warm fluttery feeling in their heart when they match an eager teacher to a beautiful-to-work-at hagwan.

Thanks for the insight

The school pays them, usually around a million won or so per teacher.
