Bump...
Yep...it is that time again.
Here in Chungbuk, we were JUST told that at 072\30 tomorrow, we must go. I told thye manager that, this is not a legal requirement.
I asked for the letter and the envelope....only a letter, that was faxed.
I asked to see an offical stamp and seal by the local POE...nothing.
I explained that the Hogwan Association is not a government entity and if that was the case, private schools WOULD be regulated.
I used Ttompatz information, printed it off, printed a sampleof the "official"letter from Seoul....still not showiing ANY offical governmental seal or stamp.
I asked why we would have to pay for a mandatory government seminar.
I asked since this is way beyond our working hours ( come in at 1 p.m.) would I rece8ive overtime?
Korean manager "grousled, heckeled and dodge about like a Pettifogging Tammany Hall Huckster"....and asked "What's your point".
Then, we could come back to work.
At least the school was willing to pay the fee...but, I'm not going, thus being labeled as a trouble maker while the rest of the staff lays prostrate. |

You're stupid as stupid can be. Is this your first or second week of work there?
You ex-military types are all the same. 'no one will push me around' - well no they wont when you have no job (again) and you come on here (again) asking for help.
'Give an African a fishing rod, they'll burn it for fuel' (no that is not a racist comment before Smithee chimes in).
ttompatz 'empowered' to do something stupid. |

You are more than welcome to show up and say that to my face, as opposed to internet tough talk.... |

No, I wouldn't say it to your face, i'd just let you walk into the pit that you're digging for yourself...
Think carefully about how much you may/may not need your job before 'standing up' to your manager.
Although going to a sat thinggy is annoying (and they're charging you 10,000 to go) - yeah i know I get it!
But if you're a 'glass half full' kinda guy you could use it as an opportunity to network/meet other foreigners/Hagwon owners (ready for when you blow your top) and get fired next time!
(got a lot of respect for 99% of military guys btw!) I couldn't do it!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JIPK2NQ85Fc - don't end up like the Slinky. |
