Hi all,
Quick question that I hope someone can answer.
The contract with the company where I work renews on August 9, and I'm hoping to use my remaining 5 days of vacation from August 2-8 and then use about a week of vacation from the next contract period, amounting to about 2 weeks total, but straddling the contract expiration/renewal date. My company is fine with this, but they're not sure whether my absence from Korea during that time will impact the E2 visa renewal process, and nor am I.
My E2 visa says "Issue Date: 7/31/2012" and "Final Entry Date: 8/31/2013" so I'm guessing I can take care of visa renewal later in August (or potentially late July.) But I've never renewed an E2 visa and don't know what's involved. Any guidance would be appreciated.
Thanks!

You can apply for a visa extension up to 60 days prior to the end of your ARC and it MUST BE DONE before your ARC expires.
You need:
passport
ARC
new contract
employer's business registration (copy)
Employer's guarantee (sponsorship form)
application
fees (30k won for an extension at the same employer).
It takes about 30 minutes at immigration if you have an appointment (or if the line is short).

Thanks!
I just checked my ARC and it doesn't expire until September 8. So I'm guessing it's valid for 13 months. (My contract period started on August 8 2012.) Also guessing my absence from Korea from August 2-16 won't be an issue.
