I can't believe the junk food that these kids consume! We had a field trip on Friday and for breakfast my kindergarten students were dining on chips, cookies and cakes. They were guzzling down sugar rich drinks as well. I can't get over the amount of sugar that they were consuming!
Before I came to Korea, I thought that Asians ate healthy. At least in Korea this doesn't seem to be the case. How many times a week can you have barbecued pork? Has anyone seen what barbecue does to your body when you consume it regularly? It creates AGE's which speeds up the aging process. In addition, you are more likely to get cancer and heart disease. Also, what about the sweet coffee that they consume regularly? Drinking coffee at 10 pm can't be good for your body. Last week, I looked over the sugar content on a coffee bottle. 40 grams of sugar!
The one major difference between Korean and American children is that they don't consume nearly as much soda. I think this is why you don't see obese Korean students. High soda consummation is the number one cause of obesity in America.
It's just a small rant. Korean parents should use Americans as an example on what not to feed their children. In my opinion, good eating habits start at a young age. In 10-20 years they could also have an obesity epidemic if they aren't careful. |

It's probably true that my diet will lead to an earlier death. That just means I'll have to listen to fewer rants like yours. It'll be worth it. |

The big difference is that when I went back to the USA and ordered a iced coffee, it was a 1.5L sweetened coffee drink versus a 200 ml can in Korea.
Kids are fatter than their forefathers, but they still don't ingest as much stuff as the Americans. But people still mention that they'd liked sweet things to come in USA size, but don't understand that bigger portion leads to eating more. |

Bigger portions tend to eating more because people eat what they see. If it is in front of them they'll eat it, but they might not go order more food. I guess it's an animal instinct. |

Korea changed and is getting fatter, it's obvious when you look out of your bus window and look out onto the street. You can't go five people anymore without seeing a fat person. Kids more so than adults. The new generation will be fat unless they go back to eating healthier. |

Contrary to popular perception, most Koreans don't subsist on a diet of Samgyupsal and soju. |

Well when American fast food restaurants come in droves and you import tons of packaged food and candy that contain chemicals that are banned in most other countries, you can see why they are getting fatter.
Give them 20 years and they will catch up to the states. |

the fact that they will deliver it to you 24/7 really takes the cake too. I will give up Jack and the Box and Carls Jr for delivery.
I do miss mexican food tho. |
