I'm trying to obtain employment at a university in Korea. I was wondering how often I should post my resume on Dave's ESL. Daily, or once a week, or once every two weeks? It's a simple question, so trolls begone! Thanks in advance. |

The thing that the OP needs to understand is that these jobs are highly competitive and the universities are getting pickier. You are up against new teachers that are looking for that "holy grail" and "easy uni job" and old timers looking for a stable job where they won't have to dance and sing. The interviews are tough and there are hundreds of applicants for a single position.
The keys to landing a decent job typically are:
1) A masters
2) Years of experience in teaching Korean students
3) Adult teaching experience, especially at the uni level
4) Professionalism
5) Good qualifications
6) Good references from high level people (School Principals, MOE officials, Company managers, etc.) |

I'm not sure why you posted that, World Traveler. I have a master degree, and I have some experience at two different universities in Korea, though I was contracted through a hagwon. I have to try, anyway. Just wanted to know how often to post there... |

Maybe you should post it often. I mean, I doubt that unis are going to search message boards to find more applicants- they already have enough. But if any are doing so (and you seem to belive it), then cast a wide net by posting your resume everywhere and often.
You work at a hagwon now despite working at unis in the past? That's kind of weird. (Or did you mean the past employment at unis were unigwons?) Why did you leave the unis? But now come to think of it, you may have a shot (because of that stupid new government rule...or maybe not because unigwon work might not count, not sure). An old lifer could belong in the Freakiest Waygook Thread, but because of coincidence (having been in the right place at the right time in the past) is automatically in forever. |

Scroll down through the postings. If you can't find yours on the list, post it again. Repeat until you have a job. About once every week or two is enough - more and you'll look desperate. |

If you want a uni job then start networking and drop into the "English" departments and make yourself known.
Keep a sharp eye out on the job postings.
They typically don't pay for or read resumes from "Dave's" or other EFL boards (they don't have to). They have lots of applicants (friends of friends) and word of mouth applicants.
It's all about who you know and who knows you.
