If I was in Korea to study for 3-4 years. Will I be able to acquire a residential visa from my study visa? |

A permanent resident visa?
Not in itself, but after that you will have more points towards the points based visa. If you were to do a PhD in Korea then you would get 30 points for the PhD and 10 points for doing a PhD in Korea. This with the age-based points and moderate abilities in Korean gets very close to the amount required. Just need to get a E visa afterwards I think. |

Not the permanent residential visa F-5, I mean the F-2.
Can you only get the residential visas from an E visa?
Are there requirements before you go through the point system, like have a proper address for a certain amount of time or having to stay in Korea for a certain amount of time? |

you can get the visa form D-2 status. I am currently doing it.
I currently have 73 points with nothing more but age, doing a masters in Korea (extra points for doing it in Korea) and Korean ability. Once I finish the culture part of the KIIP, I will be at 83 points, and none of this includes taxes, work history...etc
Check this group for "Update on f-visa point system" on perhaps page 24 of the thread (may be 23, maybe 25) for the UPDATED point system. |
