I'm getting the itch to visit a new country and options/funds are limited. I've done all the ones near Korea and thought about the ferry from Donghae to Russia. Prices are reasonable. Only around $700/person for a week for a Junior suite for my family and me.

However, I'm just wondering how much of a 'no frills' trip is it and whether V-stock actually has anything to offer. Any info is appreciated.

Cheers.

Don't know anything about the ferry or V-stock, but remember to factor in the cost for a Russian visa. It is a pain to get and expensive.

how long does it take? Do you need a certain amount of time left on your ARC like you do for a Chinese visa?

Don't know the answers to those questions, but you need a hotel to provide a letter saying you are staying there certain dates. The dates have to be accurate and match your other documents, otherwise the Embassy will reject the visa (happened to a friend of mine earlier this year). The difficulty is the amount of documentation required to get a tourist visa.

Here's a link to the ferry's website.

It's a 20 hour ferry ride. You stay in Russia for a few days and then take the ferry back.
