I've sent my resume/documents to 5 recruiters and have heard back from one of them. And then that one disappeared after she found out I was 38 years old (I assume).
I'm wondering which recruiters are most likely to make the effort to place NETs who aren't fresh faced 23 yr olds.
I'm flexible with location/hours/age...and have prior experience teaching in Korea. So that's not the problem. |

Well, I am 43, and I got into Korea through Canadian Connection. They were recruiting for public schools and they seemed to be focussing at that time on small cities and rural areas. Though they may have jobs in urban areas too. I know some people would be unhappy in a smaller area, but I don't know if you would be. Look them up online and ask them if they are still recruiting for public schools.
They do hagwons as well. If it matters to you whether you are in a large city, do mention this.
Jay M. Lee of Korea Connections seemed also to be interested. A lady recruiting for hagwons ( I can't remember her name) was interested in me too. I will check to see if I have her e-mail in my contacts.
For me the barrier seemed that some hagwon recruiters rejected my photo. They didn't mention my age-but they wanted to see a big toothsome ***SMILE***!on my face, and this was even though I had smiled in the photo. If unemployment goes down in the U.S. recruiters will be less picky, I think. |

Thanks for that....good leads. I'll check them out.
I probably should have mentioned that I'm looking for hagwons as I am really hoping to make 2.3/mth and don't have a TEFL cert. |

Its amazing. A post by someone over 30 looking to work in a hagwon is not immediately met with howls of "loser".
How times change |

Yeah, I've been waiting for that myself lol.
Heading back to Korea is a stepping stone to something bigger this time. I've worked in a Hagwon before and know what to expect. If I could get a starting wage of 2.3mil or higher at a public school I'd go for it.
But ya, I'm the coolest 30-something loser on the block |
