I've got a job interview for business English classes later in the week.

They've told me not to prepare anything but I will be given a book during the interview and asked to perform a 10 minute demo.

Has anyone been in a similar situation? I'm new to business English so not really sure what to expect. Pick a page and run with it? Focus on group work and speaking practice mostly?

Cheers

Make it interactive and interesting. That's all.

Just seems strange that they'll give me a book and then expect me to teach it without ever seeing it before.

Guess it's to test one's abilities to improvise?

I've been offered that 10min impromptu several times. Every time they have been unsuccessful. That's after a long journey on bus to some city far away. Kind of makes you think it's a way of them telling you that your first impression sucked but they are generously letting you find for yourself that you're not wanted. Other people have been successful, so probably there's something I don't know about this thing.

You mean you've had the interview and then they ask you to perform the 10 minute demo?

I've been warned in advance by them and they were the ones who contacted me about the job. Wonder if they just saw prior experience in a certain field and emailed me for that reason.

I certainly hope the first impression goes well. Maybe I'll stick to kids, at least I know what they're all about.
