| I was just wondering, instead of transferring money home through a bank, can they issue a cashiers check instead? I'm going home soon and haven't sent any money back yet, so I was thinking would it just be easier to clear out the account, get them to write out a check, and deposit the check back home? Thanks. |

| I once bought a dozen or so $1,000 denomination AMEX travelers checks and took them back home in my wallet. Unsure about cashier's checks....doubt it, but this may be the next best thing. Easy enough, although granted this was back in 2001. No idea if the rules are the same. |

You can but your bank at home may place a hold on the funds till the cashiers check clears (could be up to a month).
A simple bank wire (swift transfer) will cost less than 50k (as low as 8k if you have a remittance account set up) and save the hassle later.
Alternatively, depending on how much you are talking about, a pocket full of Benjamins doesn't take that much space (10 bank notes per $1000).
