If I go back to work on the other side of the world, I probably won't be going back home again. Hey, I love playing cop (parole officer), but I can't live on 30K a year in the United States.

So, career waygooks, looking to see how many of you are NOT married to Koreans and therefore are growing old in your positions and have to actually work hard to stay in Korea. Do you struggle when you get older to find something? Do you get lucky and stay in one place for a long time?

P.S. I married a Filipino man, so his outlooks are just as bad in Korea as the US where everyone thinks he's an illegal Mexican. Know any good places where he might look for sponsorship so he can work, too?

If you are actually qualified and legally married to a Pinoy (citizen not just heritage) then the Philippines is an option. Get a 13a (non-quota immigrant) visa and go to work teaching EFL or running your own hagwon. He can do the same (teach EFL). Even easier if he is a dual citizen with a US as well as a Philippine passport and he would earn close to the same salary.

Thailand is an option for legal work for both of you (assuming he has a degree in something). He would need to do a TOEIC.

Vietnam is an option. The pay levels there for native speakers are similar to what you would earn in S.Korea and he can get work at about 1/2 of your salary (the same salary if he has a degree and blue passport).

Yeah, I'd be in the Philippines right now if I could make enough to pay off my student loans!
