Hey. 6 years? wow.
Im assuming youre staying in korea? Cant you change to a different (F) visa after 5 years and by-pass all that?
The other option is, that of you havent left Korea, you can obtain a local police check.
Anyway, to get a police check from engand (which is fecking ludicrous considering you havent lieved there for so long...).
Collect some evidence of your proof of address, a copy of your passport and maybe your arc card (bank statement, utilities with name on etc.) - i think 3 is what is required.
Email scotland and ask them how they can accept payment. ([email protected])
Get an application form from scotland (you can print it from their web site i think). From what I remember DONT apply online unless you have a uk c/o address and can make a direct apyemtn from korea (may need to check that, it may have changed in the pst 2 years). Fill it in and post it to a friend in in england with an envelope addressed to yourself in korea. Include your utilities bill and a covering letter explaining that youve lived here for 6 years and explaining why all your bills are written in korean.
Send all that crap to friend.
freind posts application form, proof of address and covering letter )along with a s.a.e. to themselves in england), to scotland.
Friend revives police check.
Friend posts police check to you.

to avoid the appostling crap, im pretty sure you can get them to to put a stamp on it or something (i didnt realise this till later). Ask about that when you email them.

Yes, either is fine for a paper application. Make them payable to
Disclosure Scotland.
You can, however, apply online at if you have a UK c/o (care-of)
address.
The quickest way to do a basic disclosure is to use a c/o (care-of)
address in the UK if you possibly can and apply through
www.disclosurescotland.co.uk.
This cuts down postage times as due to the business post system we use
it can take 3 weeks to get an item to overseas.
If you are doing the application online for applicants and want the
finished certificate sent to a C/o address first of all the online
application will ask 'Do you want this sent to a business address',
select NO.
Where it asks for the current home address enter 'C/o' and the postal
address the certificate and all correspondence should be sent to.
Default the resident from date to the to today's date, ie the date you
are filling the form in.
In the field below enter the applicants current home address and
continue filling in the address history covering 5 years (with resident
from dates).
After you have applied online you should forward a copy of proof of
address for your current home address (eg utility bill, bank statement
etc) and proof of ID (passport, driving licence, birth certificate).
This information can be faxed (0870 609 6996), emailed (to this address)
or posted (Disclosure Scotland, PO BOX 250, Glasgow G51 1yu).
Please attach application number to all correspondence.
Please do not send originals-copies only.

I have only ever been asked once to provide one for a job. The reason I want one now is because I am going to apply for the F5 visa and it is a requirement. It does seem stupid considering I have been in England for less than a month in the past 7 years, but rules are rules.
It might be difficult to prove my address in the UK considering I don't have one. My UK bank sends statements to my mother's house, so that is all I have. I have no utility bills, phone bills etc in the UK. I hope they are willing to listen to reason on this one.
Fortunately, I am going home in August so I can get things done then - I hope.

you dont have to prove your address in the uk, you have to prove it here (re. covering letter). Like I said, bank statement and utility bill should suffice. I went to KEB and asked them to print a statement with my name and address on it last time and it worked.

Just looking through past emails, I used my tax forms/rebate forms. I thought you could use credit card bills but I guess not. Maybe I will have to use the paper version. |

| you dont have to get it done at milton keynes. As far as I remember, you can specify to have the certificate authenticated in scotland before its despatched out. maybe worth emailing them and checking because if its the case, it will save a lot of fannying on. |

Bugger, new job wants a criminal check with the apostille. I thought that by having an F6 and teaching adults I didn't need it anymore.
Can subject access requests be used? They're the ones from the actual police stations right? I'm thinking that may be quicker than going the disclosure scotland route |
