My wife and I are planning the move soon, hopefully in August, and we've been searching the boards for jobs, but as a couple it seems like we're limited to the big cities. Even through several recruiters this is what we've found. Is it possible to find a job for a couple in a smaller city, maybe less than a million people, somewhere in the southern part of the country? Maybe I've just been looking in the wrong places... |

Try posting your resume(s) on Dave's, and stating in the title that you are a couple who wish to work in a smaller city. |

That was our first move in the job hunt, and everyone wants us to work in Seoul, or wants us to be there before we possibly can. |

It is possible for couples to find work in smaller cities. There are a few couples working at schools in my city, which has a population of about 300,000. There are just more jobs readily available in Seoul, which is why you're getting offered them by recruiters. They'd rather have positions filled right away then wait a bit for the ideal placement to come up.
I did notice in the job listings that there was a recruiter who seemed to be specializing in small town placements. |

No doubt you could work in Icheon. It's only 150,000 people, but there's about 50 foreigners here and in August is when the majority of their contracts are up. |

EPIK places a lot of teachers in the smaller cities. Their application period has just expired, but you may still be able to apply. |

Unlikely epik would work for a couple -- usually one person per district. Its possible to find 2 adjacent districts & set up common housekeeping, just not likely.
If its hagwon work youre after, I've known several couples to have a good run in Sokcho (pop. just under 100,000), either working together or in separate hagwons. A nice town that might be worth keeping on your radar screen. |

It shouldn't be that difficult, but keep in mind, Koreans aren't known for planning ahead. My guess is you'll start getting offers in the next two weeks, wanting you on a plane NOW! |

I work in a "small" town (by Korean standards apparently)... anyone wanna help me make it a couple?
I'm accepting applications. |
