Hi.
I finished my job on monday, this week. Got my release letter/pay etc.

I went to k.immi. yesterday to transfer my E2 to a D10. They declined on the basis that my E2 had not been reported as cancelled/ended. Is there anything I can do to report these a-holes for holding me up (e.g. complaint to k.labor board, police, official immi. complaint)?.
Problem is, hogwan went on holiday Tuesday so i have no phone number other than a direct line. Recruiter is less than useless.

Thanks

Yes, you could have simply showed them your contract end date. Or you could have told them to check the contract on file. When its done, they should allow a transfer.

It is always timing with immigration. Go to early and they will say no. Leave it too late and they also might say no.

If they don't report it within two weeks they get fined, according to the immigration officer I spoke to. I'm in the same boat, but I don't mind the wait anyway, since I have a wait anyway before I can transfer my visa to my new school. The immigration officer I spoke to told me that when the school contacts them that they will let me know (they haven't yet, but it's still not quite two weeks yet).

You'd think that the letter of release would be proof enough, eh? It clearly has an end date specified on it.

That was pretty much my argument. He said 'you have no proof' and I told him 'the release letter is proof'. He said 'it isnt' etc.

Usually you need to go to the office which serves your jurisdiction.

Only works if you worked until the end of your contract, not if you give notice part of the way through.

Try again. All I needed was a letter of release. You may just need to see a different person.

My bad. Then a D-10 may or may not be issued. It is at the discretion of the attending officer. I didn't realize the contract wasn't completed. It is not guaranteed. I keep hearing at the water cooler that they have been rejecting D-10s for non-completed contracts.
