When a sponsor goes to immigration to cancel the visa, as far as I can tell from reading, the visa is changed to a tourist visa and you then have 30 days.

However, once I have the release letter in my hand, how is it then changed to a D- 10?
Do I have to go with the director at the time they cancel it, or can I go in next day/a few days later and transfer it? (or even before?).

Thank you

I am pretty sure it is not changed to a tourist. You get the 30 days, but you have that 30 days in which to go or transfer (E2,D-10) you visa.

Once you have the LOR, getting the D-10 is very similar to doing a E-2 transfer. Message me your email and I will send my D-10 instructions.

I think a few days later is fine.

I'd be careful about that.. I though you needed to go to immigration before or on the last day that your visa expires.
Call immigration
a d10 is not the same as a tourist visa.
