96 degrees. Feels like 109 degrees according to the heat index. (Later today at 4pm, it will feel like 110 degrees.) Humidity: 74%

Be sure to drink a lot of water (and take other precautions if necessary).

Interested to know if any long-termers agree that this is definitely the longest unbroken heatwave in ten years.

Enough to drive you insane.

Although June of 2003 was probably the hottest temperature -wise.

Last year was pretty hot too. Maybe it's global warming?

Depends on where you are but in Seoul last summer’s heat wave was hotter and longer.
From the end of July 8 days of 32+ Celsius days followed by 7 days of 35+ and finished with two 34 Celsius days was brutal. Humidity was fairly low though.
The Pohang, Ulsan area has been hit hard this year.

Just checked 2003 June but in Seoul it wasn’t hot at all. Only 3 days when the temperature went above 30 Celsius degrees.

It's not the heat so much as it's the humidity. A day of 32 degrees that is dry is way more tolerable than a day that's 32 with a humidex factor feeling like 48 degrees. It's the humidity that makes Northeast Asia so unbearable in summer. A lot of weather sites don't give what the temperature feels like with the humidity. www.theweathernetwork.com

What does this have to do with weather? Though I agree some fellow Canadians should get over some of these issues, as we have a lot to be proud of and can hold our head high on our own accord without comparing.

not the heat this year (last year was far far worse with temps over 38C or 100F) almost Austin-like in terms of temp but the humidity has god awful this year, night time has been even worse don't think it has gotten below 80/27 at night in weeks

With the "energy crisis" going on can't even go to the gym to workout since they wont set the a/c at a decent level

This is honestly the most uncomfortable summer in Korea I've experienced so far. Maybe because I was inside an office most of the time last year but I don't remember sweating like I do now. A ten minute walk and I'm literally soaked. My pants are wet from sweat it looks like I pissed myself. I workout even with the fan on and there's literally a puddle of sweat under me. I thought somebody spilled water until I realized it was coming from me.

I actually brought a sock to work in my pocket the other day to use as a make shift handkerchief to wipe the sweat off of me when no one was looking. Just for the commute, but still. That's one step away from beating off in a Popeye's bathroom. So low.

There was an article I read the other day that said this is the longest stretch of humidity and heat that Seoul has seen since records have been kept.

I believe it.

I was thinking about a quick jaunt to Phil for a vacation... then i realized, why bother? I'm already in a tropical climate Very Happy
