|
|
Is it possible to be on a D2 student visa and then transfer to a E2 visa? I've already finished school, and the D2 visa expires in mid-September. However, the school wants me to start at the beginning of September.
Anyone have any advice on this?? TIA! |

hi. I cant answer your query directly, but if you fail to get any advice on this thread (though Id be surprised if you didn't what with the likes of tommp and skippy etc.), Id suggest going to a foreigner help centre. I approached my local (not seoul) a few days ago to ask for help change my visa and I have to say, they were fantastic. They filled in my paper work and even drove me to k-kimmi.
The guys on here are great but it gave me a lot less stress having someone help me with the face to face stuff.
good luck. |

Since I was mentioned by name. Here is some info.
First for transferring. I thought it was a no go, but I am half wrong. Check out the HiKorea website. It looks like a D2 transfer from D2 to E1, E3, E7. Ye, that is not good for if you want a E2.

You best bet is to call immigration at 1345. Ask them for better details. I think in the end you will likely have to do a Japan visa trip. Which means new paperwork.
A note as a D2 you can not transfer to a D-10.
As to the timing. Well that is all negotiable with the school. Maybe they can delay. Or you can work under the table for a while. The problem arises of not having a visa for the time in between. You do not want to be in Korea with an expired visa.
Good Luck. |

Thanks Skippy!
It would be awesome if Ttommpatz could chime in also.
The E2 docs are all ready, so doing a visa run wouldn't be a problem. But before doing the visa run, I'm guessing I have to cancel my student visa with Immigration.
I'll try calling the Immi office today. |
