Hi everyone
So I've got a demo class in a public school (it's a private public school) in front of real grade 6s.
Just wondering if anyone has experience with this.

So far, my plan is- a good topic kids like talking about- and a short fast-paced competative team game.

I have topic ideas kids like to talk about or that I've done well before, but wondering, is there expectation of using powerpoint slides. I don't usually teach in a public school so am not sure. Also, would prefer not to a) rely on technology which I possibly don't know how to work, or, b) isn't working.

My ideas are -choose a good topic kids like talking about,
comparitives... .... is ....er than .../ or " " is better than " " or
sometimes/always/never .. These kids are high level grade 6 th graders.

Has anyone done a 10 min demo?
what the heck can you do in 10 mins??? I know they just want to see u speak but should I really do the start of a normal lesson, as these kids don't know me.
any advice.

Is this part of your job interview? If so, think more about presentation. How you'll look, how you'll sound, ice-breaker games, how much enthusiasm, how much you'll move around, use games they already know, etc. Do not make it about how smart you are, how innovative you are, and how much you deserve respect. Grade 6, their minds are half way to Middle school already. They don't care about new teachers.

If you already have the job, then ask your co-teacher.
