I've been searching for some information and advice on my situation, but can't find anything that addresses the issue directly and comprehensively. If anyone can help or link to a thread, that would be great.

I'm a British citizen and I'm coming to the end of my contract - I'll finish in three months. I don't want to stay at the same job, but I do want to stay in Korea, so I need to get all my documents together to apply for a fresh job and visa.

What's the best way to do it?

I can have my family receive and send documents for me back in the UK, but I've read hints that it's possible to get things notarised (and apostilled?) at the British Embassy here. Is that possible? For the criminal record check and for the degree certificate?

Will Disclosure Scotland post an application form to Korea, or should I have it sent to my family for them to send to me?

Is there anything else I should know?

Thanks.

If you finish your contract, get a D-10 visa and then you don't have to get new docs.

But then surely I would still have to get all the documents together for my next job, right?

Provided you haven't left Korea for more than 90 days in the last year you do NOT need to submit new documents.

You can transfer to a new employer or you can switch your status to D10 (looking for work).

Transfer:
ARC
passport
new contract
new employer's business registration
new employer's guarantee (sponsorship form)
application
fees (60k for transfer and 30k for extension of ARC).

Switch to D10:
ARC
passport
application
fee (50k)
written employment search plan.

Can you switch to a D-10 visa at the end of a public school contract and take the 1.3 won for the exit allowance, fly home for a few weeks, followed by a return flight to Korea to look for work? All without doing the paperwork nightmare again?

I know that some schools will not give you the exit allowance if your intentions are to switch jobs and continue working in Korea.

I wasn't sure if the D-10 allows exit and re-entry.

Yes, the D-10 does allow a person to exit and re-enter Korea with some limitations.

As to getting the exit allowance, that is a good question. Some public schools can be sticklers on leaving and coming back. So wanting to make sure visa is finished/canceled.

Yes, D-10 can allow a person to avoid some of the paperwork hassles that come with a new E-2.

Please message me for information on the D-10. As, I would like to here if you are able to do with the exit allowance.

Thanks, Ttompatz. So if you spend time on a D-10, are you able to switch to another job later (before the D-10 expires) without getting a fresh CRC and certificate with apostilles?

Yes, PROVIDED you are NOT out of the country for more than 90 days during your sojourn on the D10.

The process to go from a D10 back to an E2 is the same as a transfer from E2 to E2.
