I've been working at one place for a good number of years now but I'm thinking of making a move this winter to Seoul. I've not submitted documents for a while and I am pretty confused about what they want.
I know they want a criminal background check and a degree that has been apostilized. But I'm not 100% sure of the steps. Here is my plan, if you can recommend changes or confirm that the steps are correct I would be very grateful.
Get a new criminal check from Disclosure Scotland (must be no more than 6 months old at time of visa application).
Get my criminal check and degree notarized by a solicitor or someone else with the power to do that.
Send the notarized copies (not the originals) to the following address:
Legalisation Office
Foreign & Commonwealth Office
PO Box 6255
Milton Keynes
MK10 1XX
Submit the documents with my visa application.
Is there anything I've missed? Also, is it the immigration office that covers the school's or your apartment's area that you should go to? |

The Disclosure Scotland must be the notorized original, the degree must be a copy. |

It may still be the case, but last time I applied, disclosure Scotland said they could notarize the b.g. check themselves (thus cutting out a link in the chain/mess on).
It might be worth checking on this. |

oh, and its your apartments area. So you'll need to provide an address and post code (you don't need any proof of this as far as Ive seen). |

Thanks for the answers folks. I've also been doing a bit of research myself and found this from the Disclosure Scotland website.
"Once you have received your Basic disclosure certificate, if you wish it to be signed and stamped by an authorised signatory from Disclosure Scotland, who is recognized by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, then please return the certificate to us, marked for the attention of the Business Management Unit, PO Box 250 Glasgow, G51 1YU, with a covering letter detailing that you wish the enclosed certificate to be signed. There are currently 2 such registered signatories at Disclosure Scotland. The reasoning behind this is change is to further enhance system security, which will not allow manual intervention."
Seems like I would need to send it back to Glasgow to get it notarized. Seems a bit of a waste to have it sent to my parent's house only for them to send it all the way back to Glasgow. |
