Eric X. Li: A tale of two political systems
Quote: |
It's a standard assumption in the West: As a society progresses, it eventually becomes a capitalist, multi-party democracy. Right? Eric X. Li, a Chinese investor and political scientist, begs to differ. In this provocative, boundary-pushing talk, he asks his audience to consider that there's more than one way to run a succesful modern nation. |
This is the best TED clip I have ever watched. This is despite I consider myself to be a harsh critic against China due to my hatred of Marxist-Leninism. |

His diagnosis seethes with Han anti-imperialistic resentment combined awkwardly with Chinese triumphalism.
Mandarinism, for most of Chinese history, kept the vast majority of China in a feudal agrarian system. China is just now emerging from this feudal agrarianism, and has a long way to go.
I also believe his predictions are incredibly optimistic. |
