Met quite a few eccentric and basically down right unusual (as in "great") fellow teachers while teaching overseas.

I was wondering if anyone has befriended another teacher to the extent where both of you have decided to teach together - either stay at your current position or apply to the same school somewhere else to teach.

Also, we hear alot of stories about hooking up with the chicks in the country where we teach but has anyone tied the knot with a fellow NET at the school they have taught at?

My best friend met his wife at the hagwon we all worked at. They went on to teach at the same school in Turkey.

Edit 1:

Another two friends who worked together at that same school got married and are back in N. America.

Edit 2:

After a few moments of reflection I remembered another two friends from the same hagwon got married, this time in Korea.

That's actually how I got my job at my first school many years ago.

Two of the English teachers who met while working there, got hooked up, got married and moved back to the bride's hometown. They left two vacancies instead of one.

Since then, I have met 16(eight couples) teachers who met while working together, then got married. One couple had even lived in the same city in America, but had never met until coming to Korea.

So, yes, it happens!

Thank you for the edits, that kind of clarity is extremely important and useful.

Most couples that come over, from my observations, result in the female returning home alone for obvious reasons.

I'm glad they helped you. Smile

In my experience it's good forum etiquette to briefly explain any edits made to a post. Although, I suppose it wasn't really necessary here.

You must have been so eager to inject your sarcasm into this thread that you didn't even read the OP. Oh well. Relevance is overrated anyway.
