I'm an American Korean adoptee that would like to move to Seoul or the surrounding area for 1-2 years to experince the culture and travel. I initially planned to teach English for work but have learned that a clean background check is required and I have a DWI on my record. I can get a F4 visa but my understanding is that the schools will request the background check. Will any schools hire without a background check or is it possible to find a non-teaching job without a background check? I have some money saved up so I would be able to move first and look from work while in Korea if needed. I am a 30 year old male in case that would make a difference. Thanks for the information! |

Most schools or recruiters would not even deal with you unless you have a CLEAN record. But you never know... |

For LEGAL work as a teacher you need a clean CBC and a degree regardless of your visa class.
For other work on an F4 = non issue.
A degree and background check are not required.
For work as an unregistered teacher = non issue (but don't' complain when they forget to pay you either - if they are willing to break the rules about hiring you as a teacher they probably don't have any problem about breaking labor law either).
