Was wondering where I could find a good Levi store. I live near Suwon so there or in Seoul would be ok. |

If you want to make a day trip out of it, the Yeoju outlet has a Levi store. |

And expect to pay about 3-4 times the US price for Levis (not joking). They are a high-end brand of jean here. |

Just curious, how much is your average pair of Levi's in the US? |

I think the cheapest is around $30. The selvage, raw denim levis go for 200+ |

While more expensive, its not that huge of a mark up. There is a big difference between the Levis at walmart/costco and their more premium stuff. The difference is they primarily sell the premium stuff here.
If you want quality and affordable jeans, check out Uniqlo. They are reasonably priced and have good fits. |

Maybe that's it. I know I see Levis in the states for less than $30 a pair (I don't wear Levis, so oblivious to the price range). Sometimes they are like 2/$40 or so at Wal-mart. Here they start around 100,000 won (Again, no idea what the quality difference is between Levis in Wal-mart and Levis from the Levis store here.) |

The quality is the same. Theyre the same models (501s et al) only 200%+ markup. I buy Guess here which are also very expensive but jeans last forever if you take care of them so its worth it.
You can find Levi at the Department stores. |

The red-tabs for $30? That is cheap, I've never bought jeans in Canada for under $60 (they're hard to find) and usually pay close to $100 for jeans. I think every brand in Canada considered a premium... Guess, DKNY, Levi's, True Religion, whatever else. And as someone mentioned, some of those premium brands last ages. |

I've been wearing Levi jeans since elementary school. They are still my favorite. I used to buy 501s red tag back home for around $50, though it's been a while back. I bought a couple of pairs of 501s red tag just outside of an army base a few years ago, 60,000 won each. They sometimes can be found in, or at least around, army bases.
It's common for some of these retailers to jack the markup through the roof. |

Two 'official' stores in Suwon:
AK Plaza Dept. Store (Suwon station)
or,
Galleria Suwon Dept. Store (near Suwon City Hall) |

Im still surprised I was the first to mention Levis are in dept. Stores. I thought this was common knowledge? Then again with the way most English teachers dress compared to the locals... Im not surprised I guess. I never see other foreigners in the department store.
I also second the Uniqlo recommendation. Their jeans are something like 70k and pretty good quality (chill out, pretentious japanese denim lurkers). |

Another hands up for Uniqlo jeans.
GAP also has decent jeans at half the price of department store Levis. |

That's because the department stores rip you off. Lacoste clothes are similarly priced there as other places, but for a lot of things you're better off avoiding department stores.
For example: A few years ago I bought a coffee grinder at Hyundai Apgujeong for 80,000 won. The next day I happened to be in a cafe in Hongdae which sold the exact same grinder for 34,000 won. Since then, I always shop around and end up not buying things at department stores. |

So how do you explain most English teachers walking around Seoul in rags?
I dress nicer than any foreigner that doesn't wear a suit every day. But that's not saying much. Most foreigners I see don't even iron their shirts. |
