Hi everyone
I have been at an after school, which is normally a great job, (well my last one was). Anyways, so many things have been bad at this one for so long that I've given my notice. I was fully cooperative and gave the proper notice, offering to be flexible and work extra if needed be, etc. but thing is, they are mad at me becuase I've given notice and am now worried about getting my LOR.
Anyone with a similar experience with this? It is my guess that afterschools want to be more lawful and tread carefully in t his situation because the public school actually sponsers us and gives us the LOR. They usually don't want trouble and the afterschool co usually doesn't want any immigration looking at them too carefully. (because technically they are skirting the law somewhat, althoughI suspect everyone knows about it.
Please, just interested in people with afterschool experiences specicifically.
My program has been particularily bad, and I must say not due to my efforts. the first coteacher actually didn't teach most of the time (sat and ate while giving kids print outs of anything..crossword puzzles).. no organization.

The public school even issued a warning letter to the co that they would cancel their contract early if things didn't improve. (this is really bad).
Thing is, the new coteacher is at least teaching, but has anger problems and is horrible as well. The assistant has already quit because of her, and I did try and actually tell the co that their was a problem with her (bad idea I realize now). I did this partly because I did not ever tell on the first coteacher and things did get very bad because of this maybe.

Wondering what experiences other afterschool people had with getting their LOR? ?
thanks.

My understanding is that they don't have to give you a letter of release if you quit early or if you're fired.

You need the LOR from your "sponsor".
If the school is your sponsor of record then suck up to them for it and don't sweat the A/S company (they aren't relevant in the big picture).

If the A/S company is your actual sponsor of record (I doubt it) then negotiate a LOR since they probably won't stand up to the scrutiny of the tax, NPS and NHIS offices.

No, they don't pay pension and have already been sketchy with the public school (lying profusely etc) but, it's a bit dicy whether the public school will actually stick up for a teacher. The other trouble is I never see or know anyone in the bublic school, except for a supervior who speaks English well. Anyways, have asked for when someone new will be starting or when they need me to work until, but the co guy didn't return my call yet. I will wait a day or two, and then merely tell the school I've given notice (and leave out why) just to start things. But, maybe hopefully, won't need to threaten my co with 'i'll tell the school what's going on' cause I'm not that good at hardball.

Good to hear. From the most part from what I've heard from others, there are some horror stories floating around but generally the manager will avoid the hassle and just give you the letter.
