I don't have a cell phone plan or internet plan yet in Korea but I have been thinking about just buying/renting the Olleh Egg and bringing it around for consistent phone wifi and use it at home for internet. I can just use imessage or kakao call/message anyone I need to in Korea and I have apps that let me call over to Canada using wifi. Just wondering how good the battery life is on the Egg, how well it works all over Seoul (particularly in the subway) and if it performs well when using it to game on PC. |

My wife had the Egg and I thought it was the worst possible investment ever. First, it gave me headaches like the car navigation system & sometimes other cell phones do. Second, with the plethora of free wifi already available (coffee shops, random hotspots) it didn't make sense to pay for something when she already went to coffee shops to study or use the internet.
For your needs, I believe it could be a better investment, but there is a contract (maybe?) to use it. It was a long time ago, so I'm not sure. Also gaming?? If you play Minesweeper and Solitaire then great! |

How disappointing to hear. Although there is a lot of wifi in Korea, it can be spotty and tedious to find a decent source. I need consistency when I am on the go. Its price makes it such an attractive alternative to having a $30 + cell phone bill and perhaps a $40 + internet bill. |

I cannot attest to its performance or battery capacity, but I can tell you where you check the coverage of Olleh Egg (which currently relies on 4G WiBro network) for yourself:
http://wibro.olleh.com/ktwibro/cover/cover_info_02.php
There's no English drop-down menu, but basically you're searching by major cities and provinces / districts or counties, and then buttons for the coverage map appear within search results. |

Ain't no gaming going to be happening on that thing, or any other mobile gadget like it. Coffee shop Wifi would be your best bet. |
