Alright-

Been researching this - but want to double check before I stir the pot at work.

When does OT kick in? I read after 40 hours a week that it should be 150% of the hourly rate. Surely this isn't true?

What is the maximum amount of hours that one can be forced to work? My work has had a rise in business - and now we are working 6 days a week. Upwards of 70 hours a week. I'm talking about 16 hour days with 8 hour "rest"....

As you can imagine - it's not a pleasant place to work.

Read the Labor Standards Act and your contract. The OT kicks in when you get a backbone and go to your boss demanding your wage. Do be careful to not be nickel and dimed. Nickel and Dimed is where teaching hours are strickly teaching hours. Breaks and non teaching do not qualify as work hour. So you could find a 45 minute class is just 45 minutes of class and tat 5 minute break in between is not a paid.
Remember your contract likely stipulates teaching hours rather then in office work hours.

Also double check you contract regarding Saturday Work. Let's hope that is not vague. If Saturday work is not explicitly stated in the contract you might eligible for more overtime.

Skippy is right: check your contract and the LSA.

Your contract should state how many hours / classes you are paid for and what constitutes overtime. Also it should include your OT rate.

It is of course possible your contract is vague on those points.

What you described OP qualifies as a lot of OT pay (not to mention a pretty tough and demanding schedule).
